Residential Uses in the ALR

On November 14, amendments to the Agricultural Land Commission Act were introduced in the legislature as part of a broader set of improvements to the Agricultural Land Commission to make it a more "proactive organization".

One key change is a new minister's bylaw standard regarding residential uses in the Agricultural Land Reserve. This new bylaw standard reflects feedback provided by BCREA and the member boards earlier this year, particularly with the inclusion of guidelines for local governments about grandfathering existing homes and considering the insurance impact on property owners.
